Rare Compound Oxygen Box (Circa 1880)

If this product were still around today… Lance Armstrong would certainly have been all over it!!

Amazing early quack medicine item! Drs. Starky & Palen Compound Oxygen, Philadelphia. (8.75” x 6.5” x 3.25).  Front label shows elegantly dressed Victorian woman using Compound Oxygen by inhaling through a glass tube – side labels show images of the Compound Oxygen bottles – labels on lid, sides and front  – box features dovetailed corners with a hinged lid complete with original, ornate brass hinges. You see the compound oxygen bottles from time to time, but these original boxes with their fragile paper labels are very scarce.
