A full unopened case of Wheatley’s Spanish Liniment. Paper wrap labelled package holds six label wrapped open pontil bottles each wrapped in a large newspaper style advertising broadsheet titled Journal of Health Conducted by Dr. J.B. Wheatley, Dallasburgh, Kentucky. The paper labelled package features a full front green label profusely covered in medicinal claims of proclaiming cures no less than11 ailments followed by an all inclusive claim of ‘for all diseases connected to the human frame which requires either an internal or external application of liniment’. The label then proceeds to proclaim the certain cure for 7 ailments specific to horses followed by ‘all other diseases amongst horses’… with a final close of basically claiming a certain cure for many ‘other’ diseases of ‘Man and Beast’. A classic example of mid-19th century ‘Quack’ medicine!
