Exceptional mid 19th century taxidermy Chihuahua with paw on rubber ball; believed to have been a personal pet of Thomas Barnett (1799-1890), founder of the Niagara Falls Museum, understood to be Canada’s oldest museum. Thomas Barnett opened his museum of curiosities and natural history to the viewing public in Niagara Falls in 1831 and remained open until 1998.
