Egbert Oudendag was a Dutch Canadian painter, born in Raalte, The Netherlands. He emigrated to Dundas, Ontario, Canada in 1949 and moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in 1963. He died in White Rock, B.C., a community about 25 miles from Vancouver.
His medium was primarily oil, he had an unusual and proprietary method of mixing his paint that gave everything he did a very fluid appearance. His subjects are landscapes, shorelines, beaches, boats, figures, still life, nudes and portraits. His mature style is representational; easily recognized by its loose economical use of sketchy brush strokes and a minimum of detail.
