This original cabinet photograph is a spectacular moment in Hamilton/Dundas history more so railway history. It was described as the worst rail disaster in the area since the 1858 Desjardins Canal Rail disaster!

At Hamilton on the 28th April 1889. The Hamilton Spectator for the 29th April 1889 reported on two casualties but said “19 remain to be identified”. The engineer was speeding but mechanical damage was believed to be the cause of the derailed train.
