Description

R.S. (Richard) Brooke was the first photographic artist to open a studio in Dundas, C.W. he opened his doors in 1861 and continued capturing the earliest images of Dundas and it’s citizens up until 1890.

An exceptional and artistic image from a small Ontario town. The incredible mood and tonal range suggest it’s from early in his career as does the style of mount and the titling of the back stamp. R.S. BROOKE / PHOTOGRAPHIC / ARTIST, / Dundas, C.W. The C.W. refers to the address designation of Canada West used to describe what is now known as Ontario, prior to Confederation of 1867.

Condition: Exceptional; good strong mount, clean crisp corners, strong clear back stamp.
