A small Pre-Columbian terracotta head, likely South American, which
once belonged to a complete statue. The nose is bulbous, and the
area surrounding the mouth is raised, suggesting prior painted
decoration of a mask or ceremonial mouth covering. The earrings are
round and solid, the head is covered by a flat skulllcap with a hole in
the center, and the neck is surrounded by a broken string of carved
beads. 3.3” x 3.1” — 8.5 x 8 cm.
